I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Los Angeles, and when I say spontaneous I mean – I booked my flight on Monday and was on a plane by Wednesday.

There were a number of reasons why I wanted to come out to the West Coast: two of my best friends live out there, a little mini vacation, but also because I felt there would be a lot of opportunities.

Friends: Two of my friends moved out there on January 1, 2011 (One I have been friends with since 5th grade, the other since 8th grade). Took me over a year to finally come out, but I’m here now!

Mini Vacation: I haven’t had a summer break since high school. All throughout college I took summer school, and even when I was done I went straight to work. I did get to go on vacation for a week in that “summer break” but overall, I don’t count it as a full vacation – so I guess this is my week.

Opportunity:  God has allowed me to cross paths with a great amount of people in the last few years, and it has truly been a blessing. If there is one thing I’ve learned, everybody knows EVERYBODY. There is always someone who knows someone who knows the person you want to get in contact with. I’m taking advantage of that opportunity and I just know that even though I don’t have a full game plan, something will come out of this mini vacation in LA – I refuse to leave here without some interviews or new connections.

My overall purpose of this trip was so take the next step in expanding my network. I want to be able to travel from city-to-city covering different events and constantly interviewing people.

Chicago will always be home base to me, but it’s time to expand further. I’ve been getting a lot of encouraging words from my family, friends and even strangers about how I inspire them – so, with that being said, if my last two years were inspiring to you, you’re in for another ride because I’m nowhere near satisfied with what I’ve done.

Don’t get me wrong, I am forever grateful and feel extremely blessed, but I am always hungry for more – therefore, I will never be satisfied and there will be plenty more to come.
