One thing we all seem to have a problem with is our minds being consumed with unnecessary, negative thoughts.

What is on your mind right now?

Are you upset about a relationship? Worried about financial problems? Feeling down about yourself?

Whatever the case is, it’s consuming your mind when it should be focused on other important matters.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like the happiest woman in the world. I feel that there is nothing anyone could do or say to take away this happiness because I own it – and that’s how it should be. At the end of the day, YOU control your happiness, no one else.

At first, I wasn’t sure why I was feeling so happy  – and then I realized it was because my mentor encouraged me to let everything go.

I stopped caring about things I could do nothing about, and I stopped worrying.

I once read, “Worrying is like putting a down payment on a problem you may never have.”

That statement is very true.

Think of everything you have worried about – how much of it actually happened? I’m guessing not all of it.

Our minds can only hold so much. So why hold onto the things that make us mad or sad? When you fill it with negativity, you block yourself from moving forward, and being happy.

Here is an example: If you’re worried that you didn’t pass that big exam yesterday – stop! You already turned it in, and can’t change your answers. Instead of filling your mind with worry about the exam you might not have passed, fill it with studying the material of the course to prepare yourself for the next exam.

I’m disappointed in myself for letting negativity consume me, because it was draining my energy, and I wasn’t putting 110% toward my goals and dreams. Now that I’ve let it go, I feel like I’m unstoppable, because there is nothing else on my mind except for what I need to do, to be where I want to be.

I’ve made it a goal to wake up happy everyday, and pass on that energy to make others feel that happiness as well.

It is important to stop filling your mind with things you cannot control, and to stop worrying, because chances are, whatever you’re afraid of, is not going to happen. Instead, put that energy into things and people who bring you happiness.

Regardless of the situation you may be in, there is always something good you have in your life – so when negativity tries to pry its way in, fill your mind with positive things. I fill it with my amazing family, my best friends, my mentor and the many other things God has blessed me with.

What we choose to focus on becomes bigger than we make it. Do you want to empower more positive in your life, or more negative?

The choice is yours.
