It’s really not what you think.

I’ve lived in LA for almost 2 years (wow, time really does fly), and for some reason I feel like talking about how Hollywood is overrated.

Now let me be the first to admit, I moved to Hollywood because well, it’s Hollywood. It sounded cool, it was close to everything. I thought this was the place to be, but the longer I live here, the more I realize how overrated it is.

I know, if you have never been to Hollywood, or were only here for a day or two visit, you’re thinking what I used to think: It’s so nice. All the famous people live there. That’s probably the best place to live.

You’re wrong about that first thought, and right about the second thought, but not really. If that makes any sense.

Where do I begin?

It’s really dirty. Well, the heart of Hollywood is really dirty. I don’t know why, but it’s bad. It smells like pee. Garbage everywhere. It’s loud as shit because of all the bars and clubs, which I think is the only plus side of living here – If you’re “about that life.” It’s always crowded. There’s never parking. There’s always traffic. It’s very touristy and filled with a lot of crazy people. Oh yeah, it’s expensive as balls too.

As for famous people? Yeah, there’s some that live in the hills, but you can’t just knock on their door and don’t just see them walking around everywhere lol, especially not a place that is always crowded and touristy.

To be quite honest, the only reason I live here is because I literally am down the street from my office. If it wasn’t for my office, job and considering I hate the shit out of clubs (I could count how many times I’ve gone to the club here on one hand), I wouldn’t live here. But, I barely spend money on gas or transportation, so that outweighs all the bad I guess. To me, it’s just the convenience, and the more and more I think about it, the more I realize this is the last part of LA I should be living in smh. I would much rather live in Sherman Oaks, Studio City or Burbank.

So, to anyone who plans/wants to move to LA in the future and live in Hollywood, I promise, it’s not as cool as you think. Unless you’re planning to hit the clubs every weekend and have your own parking spot, it’s not worth it and you’re better off living in one of the other three cities I wish I lived in.
