Where I Always Run Into Kanye

Last night SXSW kicked off the music festival portion of the week and a great start it was. The day started with looking at the venue for one of our showcases (Independence Day) going down on Thursday, then eating at Iron Works (food was amazing), then rushing home to change to make it in time for the All Def Digital x Samsung Galaxy Dinner hosted by Russell Simmons, Steve Rifkind and DJ Skee. That was all we had on the agenda, until Skee said let’s head over to the Def Jam event, and so we went.

2 Chainz, Method Man and Redman, Pusha T, YG and many more took the stage, but the one thing you’re not going to see in anyone’s coverage? Kanye.

Ye was on the side of the stage watching first Pusha T then Method Man and Redman’s performance, and then was backstage for the remainder of the time. Apparently, running into Kanye at SXSW is a tradition of mine. Kanye always pops up the first night I’m out here – only difference is the first time I took a photo, I was a few people away from him, and this time I was right next to him but didn’t take any picture because I thought his body guard would throw me through a ceiling. But my friend JB (Spoken Reasons), was able to get a creative selfie lol, and I was right behind him at the time.

Anyway, I thought he was going to be a surprise performer, but he didn’t perform this time around. One day, I’m going to interview him – it’s on my goal list. I know he hates media and everyone says he’s an asshole, but I feel that he’s probably a really nice guy and I don’t blame him for the times he is an asshole. Guess we’ll find out soon!

Well – I’m running on 2 hours of sleep, and have been working all day. Going to try and get a quick nap in before tonight’s events. We’re hosting a showcase with Snoop and some surprise guests – Who knows what we’ll be getting into!
